The Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) is holding the second of its ‘In Conversation’ evenings at 6pm, Thursday 20 February 2014 in Firth Hall, University of Sheffield.

This time, Professor Andrew Gamble (University of Cambridge and Chair of SPERI’s International Advisory Board) will engage Andrew Haldane (Executive Director for Financial Stability, Bank of England) in conversation about the financial crisis. The audience will be also able to put their own questions to Mr Haldane.

Places for this event are limited but you can now register your place by using the quick and easy registration system.

About Andrew Haldane

Haldane has written extensively on monetary and financial stability and is the co-founder of a charity ‘Pro Bono Economics’, which aims to broker economists into projects in the charitable sector. He is a member of the newly established Financial Policy Committee at the Bank of England and a member of the Basel Committee, which oversees banking internationally. He is also a former graduate of the University of Sheffield.

Most importantly however, Haldane has been at the forefront of ongoing attempts to change the global financial system, leading the way quite radically at times. Last year, for example, he praised the ‘Occupy’ movement for questioning the banks, whilst he was recently described by The Independent as ‘the one to watch’ at the Bank of England.

We hope you can make it!
